We met one night at the end of September in 2014, and we were both out in Philadelphia with our friends making the rounds to the usual spots in Rittenhouse. Ron had just returned from a trip to Jamaica and found himself pondering why he had traded island living to come back to the city. I was out for a social night with friends as usual, but we had decided to make one last stop before heading home. We ended up at the infamous Ladder 15 where the music was loud, the drinks were flowing, and in the packed bar everyone was having a good time. As I crossed the room towards the door to call it a night, I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned I saw a guy who said, "Hey, you know my friend Ron?" and then walked away. I scoffed at the gesture until I saw who Ron was - tall, handsome, with the most attractive blue eyes and smile. I was intrigued at that moment and so we started to talk. We both laughed at the line his friend had used, but then the conversation continued on from there. We seemed to both feel a connection and decided to go to a local speakeasy for some cocktails and a chance to get to know each other better. I honestly didn't want the night to end, so I decided to take a chance and invited Ron to come to my roof deck to see the Philly skyline at night. And there on the deck with a romantic kiss under the stars, it was the start to our life together. Now, after 7 years (almost to the weekend), we will exchange vows to become husband and wife.
Falling in love, creating adventures, and building a life together has been so incredibly special, so please come join us in the celebration of our next chapter!
I had just spent a week in Jamaica on another modeling trip and was cursing Tony for not staying the entire weekend. August in Philly is hot and miserable and lacking in things to do. We had dinner somewhere in Rittenhouse and ended up at our usual Ladder 15. It was pretty crowded with the usual groups of younger drunk 20 somethings and we both agreed it was a mistake coming home. Tony, to be funny, tapped a girl standing nearby and used the famous line from "How I met Your Mother"..."You know Ron, right" and walked off. I was left to pick-up the conversation and make small talk. She had a beautiful smile and legs for days, but she was standing there with this friend with poodle looking hair who just wouldn't take the hint and go away. I asked her if she wanted to go somewhere more quiet to continue the conversation (my friend Chris had opened the Franklin Investment Company bar just down the street)...the friend followed! Two rounds of drinks later, Lyndsay asked me if I wanted to "see her roof deck" (yea right, I knew what that really meant!), and I was more than happy to close our tab and leave (still wondering how I was going to ditch the annoying friend!).
Looking back, I had no idea just how significant a random night was going to become, or how my life was about to change, but it really was as they say "love at first sight".

(Ron) It was August of 2018, we were in Montego Bay, Jamaica, with friends, touring the house Bob Marley lived and recorded in. When you get to one of the rooms, the tour guide asks everyone their favorite song, and then the group all sings the chorus...when she asked Lyndsay for her favorite song, she turned to look right at me and said. "Waiting in Vain". The group kind of laughed and started in on the chorus, but it instantly hit me...what was I waiting for? I considered her my soul mate and had no doubts about our future, so why hadn't I asked her to marry me already! (the first picture above is us sitting outside the front door to Bob Marley's house...just minutes before all of this happened...)
We returned home and I immediately began shopping for a ring. I had no idea what I wanted, and explained to a jeweler friend that Lyndsay loved flowers and I wanted something unique. The very first ring he showed me was a 100 yr old delicate ring in the shape of a flower with 8 "petals" around the center. It was perfect and after looking at easily 100 more options, decided that first ring was fate...I had mermaid tails engraved on either side of it (because at heart, Lyndsay is def. a mermaid!), and purple sapphires added to the sides (Lyndsay's favorite color). The proposal idea was an easy one I had already thought of while in Jamaica...we both love SCUBA diving and I knew there was no more special of a place for a mermaid than the bottom of the sea...so on 3/4/19, we dove into Jamaica warm waters as two best friends and emerged as life partners.
Our rings are engraved "Dis a Love", Patois for "this is love" (Jamaica's official language)...our response to one of our favorite Bob Marley songs, "Is This Love", and the song we chose as our official wedding song...
I wanna love you
And treat you right
I wanna love you
Every day and every night
I wanna love you
And treat you right
I wanna love you
Every day and every night
We'll be together
With a roof right over our heads
We'll share the shelter
Of my single bed
We'll share the same room
Is this love
Is this love
Is this love
Is this love that I'm feeling?
From the very first time I blessed my eyes on you, girl
My heart says follow through
But I know, now, that I'm way down on your line
But the waiting feel is fine
So don't treat me like a puppet on a string
'Cause I know how to do my thing
Don't talk to me as if you think I'm dumb
I wanna know when you're gonna come, see
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
'Cause if summer is here
I'm still waiting there
Winter is here
And I'm still waiting there
Like I said
It's been three years since I'm knocking on your door
And I still can knock some more
Ooh girl, ooh girl, is it feasible?
I wanna know now, 'for I to knock some more
Ya see, in life I know there's lots of grief
But your love is my relief
Tears in my eyes burn, tears in my eyes burn
While I'm waiting, while I'm waiting for my turn
See
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love, oh
I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain
No, I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain
No, I don't wanna (I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna wait in vain)
No I, no I I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna wait in vain
It's your love that I'm waiting on (I don't wanna)
It's me love that you're running from. (I don't wanna wait in vain)
It's your love that I'm waiting on (I don't wanna)
It's me love that you're running from. (I don't wanna wait in vain)
